What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We each chose songs that the other did not know about until our ceremony. That was a really special surprise.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Our most memorable moment was our cake cutting. I was 17 weeks pregnant on our wedding day, so our wedding cake was our gender reveal. We found out we were having a baby girl on our wedding day. It was so special!

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was choosing to elope close to home with only two witnesses. Working with Simply Eloped made it so easy to customize and stay within the strict budget we set for our big day.

As much as we love our family and friends, adding a wedding party and guests also adds money (and if we’re being honest, stress). We were able to share it with our friends via pictures and videos. We wouldn’t change a thing about our day!

What was your biggest splurge?

The venue increased our package price quite a bit, but we made other modifications to stay within our budget. We knew immediately when we saw pictures of the Pharmacy Museum courtyard that we were meant to be married there.

What was your favorite detail?

Our favorite detail was honestly all of the simplicity. Our flowers were beautiful and perfect, but we only had my bouquet and his boutonniere. We didn’t have additional decorations- just the string lights and the natural beauty of the museum and courtyard.

Our pictures outside of the venue were taken in our hotel and in the streets of the French Quarter. One of our witnesses played our songs on a Bluetooth speaker. Every detail was perfect for us!

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Have the type of wedding that you as a couple want- not what you think everyone else wants or expects. I never thought I would elope, but the second we started to plan our wedding we knew the stress and money would outweigh the emotional value of the day.
