What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

My husband and I made our own invitations. He designed them from ideas we had found on Etsy and we printed them at Staples on their commercial printer.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

To be honest, the ceremony was a bit of a blur. Our wedding moved pretty quickly up until the reception and with the amount of stress that goes into everything, it all seems to move quicker than you can think. That’s why we are so happy that we opted for photo and video; to capture the memories.

The one moment where I did get to slow down and take a moment for myself was during our first dance. It was easier to remember the sweet and endearing look in my husband’s eyes when we weren’t standing up in front of everyone during the ceremony. It was a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

We had a somewhat intimate wedding, which really saved on the cost of food. When you’re charged per plate, it can really add up!

What was your biggest splurge?

Without a doubt that would be the venue. Venues can be pricy in general, but we love our photos even more because of the presentation of Hyatt Gainey Ranch.

What was your favorite detail?

The florals were something that was important to us from the start. I was careful about the florals that we chose to accentuate the venues style, and Lovelee Photography captured the details of everything beautifully.

We were happy that the florals didn’t fall apart half way through. In fact, we enjoyed them the next day!

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

I’ve realized that hiring the right vendors was incredibly helpful. We have spoken with many candidates and found that a good portion of them did not reply to emails, were challenging to get clear information from, or just didn’t fit our aligned personality.

Our planner, photographer, and DJ really worked well together and helped us plan out our idea wedding day. Tasha of Meant 2 Be was hard working and very well organized, Travis at Lovelee Photography was super accessible and incredibly sweet and helpful along the way. Knowing that our DJ and photo/video team had already worked together on other weddings made things smoother the day of. Tyler of Engage Entertainment was engaging (he named his company right!) and helped the process feel smooth from A-Z. With all of the moving parts, things could have fallen apart quite easily. We were very happy with our decisions in organizing that support.

Get the right vendors, who can help guide you and make sure that the day of runs smoothly. Ours kept us informed along the way. We depended on all of them a lot!
