Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

Yes! We collected flowers, vases, shells, and driftwood as our decorations. The morning before the wedding, my mother set all of the decorations up at the hotel. The hotel manager liked the shells and vases so much that we left them with the hotel so they could use them for future events.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We had everyone fill out cards giving advice, fun date ideas, and things to always remember. It was a small wedding which made it very family-oriented and intimate.

My mom and I collected shells and driftwood from the beach to use as decorations and we bleached them so they would not have any bugs.

We created the flower centerpieces from already arranged flowers from Publix and vases from Goodwill.

The groom’s brother was the DJ, and the bride’s grandfather was the officiant.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Being able to get married to the love of my life and knowing I’ll be with him forever was definitely the most memorable!

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

We didn’t have a venue! We used a public beach which saved us about $10,000.

What was your biggest splurge?

The photographer was our biggest splurge. You don’t want bad photos because the photos will be with you forever.

What was your favorite detail?

We liked that it was small. We didn’t care to have people we didn’t know well attend. We enjoyed it because the people closest to us were there.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Use a wedding planner and make sure it is something you want. People will give you their opinions, but it is your special day, so make sure that you don’t get lost in planning your wedding.

We had so much fun the whole day! Our wedding was at 8 AM to avoid any chance of rain, and the reception was at 11:30 AM. We started eating at 12 PM and the reception was over at 3 PM. It was perfect for us because we could spend the rest of the day together as a married couple.
