Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?
We had our guest favors made, which were passport and luggage tags. These were items we felt that our guests could use over and over and remember their trip with us to New Orleans.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We included a New Orleans classic to our menu. Instead of cake, we chose beignets. We also had our guests join us on Mardi Gras.
We had our new born son attend our wedding as well. My husband walked into the ceremony with him. They both matched in green velvet tuxedos!
We made a bet that I lost, and he redeemed it that night with a custom Ravens jersey with my new last name.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Walking up and down the French Quarter in our wedding attire during the week of Mardi Gras was so one of the memorable moments of our day. Another was having beautiful pictures taken by the old buildings, and having so many lovely strangers congratulating us in the streets.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
A small guest count saved us.
Using Simply Eloped made the process much easier and it helped us to save on venue selection, photography and videography.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our biggest splurge was my dress.
What was your favorite detail?
The natural beauty and architecture of the French Quarter and the history behind our venue, Court of Two Sisters.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
This is one day – it’s a day about the bride and groom, not about everyone else. Make this day as memorable and representative of yourself and your partnership with your love and partner.
