Wedding Budget Tip #46:

Don’t skimp on photography. Hire a pro, but book fewer hours to lower the cost if possible.

I get asked over and over again, what is the one area that couples should NOT skimp when it comes to their wedding day? My answer each time is always photography!

At the end of the day, your photos will serve as the lasting physical memento of your wedding and you want them to be great. Finding a photographer you are comfortable with and whose style you like will be key to having your pictures turn out beautifully. A professional is definitely worth the investment, but there are ways to lower costs when working with a photographer.

For example, perhaps you don’t need someone there to cover 8+ hours of the day. Maybe 4 hours is enough between putting on your dress and doing your first dance. The reception photos can easily be shared or collected from guests via social media. Let’s be real… those “party pics” aren’t going to end up hanging on your walls so it’s not as crucial for a professional to capture those moments.

Definitely book a professional photographer to capture those heirloom shots that will be part of your family history forever. It’s one place we truly believe is worth the splurge!

How do you find a great photographer within your budget? Here are some tips.
