What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We wanted an intimate, private ceremony during Christmas time. There’s no better place than New York during that time of year. And even though it was just the two of us, our photographer was amazing! She perfectly captured our wedding day in the most beautiful way – not just for my husband and I, but for our family and friends also.
What is the biggest thing you did to save money?
We chose a naturally picturesque location for our ceremony, so no decorations were necessary.

What was your biggest splurge?
Wedding attire and photography.
What was your favorite detail?
Although we eloped, I wanted an actual wedding dress, which was realistic to pack in my luggage, as we flew to New York from Louisiana. My husband and I both wanted a traditional and timeless look. I chose a white, long-sleeved dress with lace detailing at the top, and a long train. My husband chose a black suit, with a white shirt, and a black bow-tie.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Being able to spend the entire day together, and really just focus on us. Not to mention the beautiful snow squall 6 hours after we got married. We don’t get snow often in Southeast Louisiana.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Embrace every moment of your wedding day. Don’t lose sight of what matters the most – genuine bliss for you and your partner.
