What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Leis for the groom, father of bride, and officiant. The Bride is Hawaiian, so they included this upon arriving, as a symbol of affection.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
The Bride made the flower bouquets from hobby lobby flowers , as well as the mason jar centerpieces.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We had a friend grill and cook food instead of catering from a catering company. It was Cinco de Mayo inspired so we had tacos and beer!
What was your biggest splurge?
Photography! We were pretty much doing everything DIY or using family and friends. Our friend officiated us, a friend did the grilling, and I did all of the florals – so I wanted to splurge on the photos. There were so many moments that I had completely forgotten about that the photographer thankfully captured! I wasn’t willing to risk those memories.
What was your favorite detail?
The flower crown! That was one thing I couldn’t do DIY so I had it made and it was absolutely perfect.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The first look. It was intimate and exciting, and the favorite moment for both of us.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Enjoy it! We had a very laid back wedding and we were very grateful for that. It should be a fun memorable day! We had a few things not go as planned but we still got married and had a great time. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
