Acrylic Frame Table Numbers, Three Ways with the Cricut Explore Air

I’ve been teaming up with some of my fellow wedding blogger friends to bring you a series of awesome, simple DIY projects to help you personalize every step of your wedding plans!

While doing some browsing recently, I got so excited by these gorgeous Acrylic Frames I found at Crate & Barrel that I knew I had to use them for a project. Y’all know I love to make wedding day projects that double as wedding decor and home decor, and today’s project is a perfect example!

I got so swept up in all the possibilities for using these gorgeous clear acrylic floating frames for table numbers that I decided to do three different options for you! So pick the one that tickles your fancy. There are 3 sets of instructions below– check ’em out!

To make any of these designs, here are the items and instructions you’ll need:

Supplies:

Option 1: Printed inside + Vinyl Lettering

For the first iteration of this project, follow these instructions.

Step 1:

Create a new file in design space. Place a 4″ x 6″ rectangle on your screen, placing the precise measurements in your edit panel on the right-hand side. The acrylic frame is 5″ x 7″ so this will leave a half inch border around all edges of the frame.

Step 2:

Next, use the text tool to add the word “table” to your design. You can choose from Free fonts in Cricut Design Space, and since I wanted the Cricut to write the design with a pen, I selected to display ONLY Writing fonts in my edit panel. For this project, I used Baby Steps, which is a free font included with Design Space. Once you’ve chosen the font for the word “table”, you can place it on your rectangle to get the position placed where you want it.

Step 3:

Then, I added shapes to my design. I used Hearts for this project. I made 3 hearts, and placed them on my design how I wanted them. Next I made sure that my text as well as the hearts were all set to “write” mode, while the rectangle was set to “cut”. Then I selected all of my layers and hit attach.

Step 4:

Click the green GO button in the top right of Design Space to create your project. It looks like this:

For this project, I used some metallic papers that came with my Cricut Bundle. I applied the paper to my cutting mat and selected the cardstock setting. Then I placed a silver Metallic Cricut Writing Pen and clicked Go.

Since this piece of the design would be used for every single table number you create, you could choose to make as many copies of this piece of the design as you need. When it was done, I had two 4×6 rectangles with super cute silver ink drawings on them. Since you want these designs to be double sided, you will need two copies for each table number. I’m seriously obsessed with this machine — it’s so cool!

Step 6:

From here, I moved on to the number portion. I took my existing design and added a new text layer with my number. Then, I chose the font Elizabeth from the Cricut Design Space fonts, and made it bold just for a more solid look. I placed the number on my existing design in the size and placement that I want to use it.

Step 7:

After I found the right size and placement for my number, I hid the other layers of my design, and clicked “go.”

I told the Cricut to make 2 copies of this number, so I could do the design on the front and back of my acrylic block. I applied my gold vinyl to my Cricut cutting mat, inserted it into the machine and let it do it’s thing.

Step 8:

Then, I placed my two printed and cut rectangles back to back inside my frame. I then used Cricut transfer tape to apply the Vinyl number to my acrylic block! I love the three-dimensional quality it has, thanks to the shadow cast by the number.

You would want to repeat this process for every number you need so you have enough for all your tables!
