If you’re having a full Catholic mass for your wedding, your non-Catholic guests might be a little confused about what to do and when to do it. If you’ve ever been to a Catholic mass (or probably any church), there is a lot of sitting, standing, kneeling, responding, etc. You don’t want people to feel lost or confused during your ceremony, so providing them with a clear outline of the events is important.

While your church may provide a program for you, you may find that it lacks the style that you’d like, so we’ve put together a basic Catholic Ceremony Wedding Program Template for you to use and customize yourself using our favorite FREE design resource: Canva!

Please note: the first page is a “cover” page. We suggest using heavier cardstock for the cover. Pages 2+3 should be printed as a double-sided page so that when you fold it, it functions as a booklet.

With Canva, you can customize and download the files to print the programs yourselves, completely for free. With Canva, you can change the color of the fonts, add artwork, etc, to customize your program for your needs.

When you’ve printed out your programs, you can attach them with a thin ribbon or twine to keep the pieces together or staple them along the folded edge. We hope the programs will make your non-Catholic guests more at ease.

Inside First Page

The first page lists the celebrant, the parents, wedding party, and ushers, as well as their relation to the bride and groom.

We’ve also included a note for guests to be made aware of happenings during the ceremony and some gentle reminders:

Thank you for coming to our wedding celebration. It means a great deal to us that you are witnesses to our marriage vows. The Priest will signal when to sit and stand and this program will serve as a guide to the order of the service. We encourage you to listen, pray, and sing. All music can found in the Breaking Bread hymnal, located in the pews. In order to respect the dignity of the ceremony, we ask that there is no flash photography during the service. Additionally, please silence all cell phones and other electronic devices.

Inside Open Page

The inside pages of our template outline the Catholic ceremony order. In parentheses, it shares when to sit or stand and also includes how to respond if necessary (for the readings, gospel, prayers of the faithful, etc.). We based the order on other Catholic Wedding Ceremony programs we found online. In the free template, there is space for you to customize with the readings and songs you use in your ceremony.
