Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?
Yes, I took on a few DIY projects for the wedding. I personally designed the vows, placeholders, and menus, which allowed me to add a unique and personal touch to the day. It was really rewarding to see my own designs incorporated into the final result.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
For my wedding, I incorporated a mix of personal and creative touches, even though I started out with no clear inspiration and a lot of confusion.
My look evolved unexpectedly! It all began when I fell in love with a pair of pink velvet and feather shoes. From there, I found a short dress I adored, which felt perfect for the reception. While casually shopping with my mom one day, we stumbled upon a vibrant and funky necklace that we both thought was unique and could work wonderfully with my outfit.
While helping my mom shop for her dress, I unexpectedly discovered a long satin gown that I also fell in love with. I decided to wear the long dress for the ceremony and save the short one for the reception. My style is really a mix of interesting shapes, textures, and colors that resonate with me, so everything from my sequin dress to my colorful necklace felt perfectly “me.”
For the finishing touches, I aimed for a natural, yet polished look. I chose a glamorous yet classic hairstyle and kept my makeup in tones I normally wear.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The most memorable moment of the day was seeing my husband for the first look. That moment was filled with so much emotion and excitement!
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
The biggest way we saved money was by keeping our elopement small and intimate. We also dedicated a lot of time to planning everything ourselves, which helped us cut down on costs significantly. By handling the details personally, we were able to stay within our budget without compromising on the things that mattered most to us.
What was your biggest splurge?
My biggest (yet completely justified) splurge was on the photographer I chose. Maria’s ability to capture the emotions of the day was unmatched. Her work preserved the feeling of that day allowing us to relive those special moments every time we look at the photos!
What was your favorite detail?
The bouquet, it was the perfect match with both of my looks.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
I think it is really important to build your wedding or elopement around you and your partner’s dreams. It is one of the most important and symbolic days of your lives and it should reflect your personality and love for each other. Too many couples feel pressure from family and friends to uphold traditions and meet expectations. We chose to follow our hearts and bring only our parents with, and they supported our decision every step of the way.
