Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?
We spray painted all of the candle stick holders that we thrifted. We also created the menus and paper signs for picture frames that we found at local stores.
We had a DIY bar with one signature drink, with the bar top from Amazon and thrifted bar utensils!
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
There were many creative details that made our day special – our audio quest-book on a vintage phone, our floral pots that we thrifted and painted for our floral arrangements, the table decorations and décor, custom menu created by the help of our caterer, and custom corn hole made by friends.
My mother in law made our beautiful cake.
Other details we incorporated and made included our Up inspired quest-book, ribbons on the glasses, custom floral napkin arrangements, boutonnieres, and corsages.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Seeing my bride waiting for me in front of one of the most beautiful places in Oregon: Smith Rock State Park.
Another memorable moment was reading our vows and saying “I do” with breathtaking scenery behind us, all captured by our amazing photographer.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We had our ceremony at Sparks Lake which is a public use area. We also had our reception at the Airbnb we rented. It saved us money on a venue, and we still had amazing scenery.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our biggest splurge was our photographer. We wanted to make sure our day was captured perfectly, so making sure we had the right photographer was important. Our wedding day would not have been the same without such a dedicated photographer willing to follow us on our crazy wedding day journey and helping us create memories for a lifetime.
What was your favorite detail?
I think our most favorite detail was our photographer and all the countless crafts my partner and I made together to make our dream day come to life.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
We really loved going smaller for our wedding. It made planning our wedding easier and more enjoyable. We had minimal stress and enjoyed the process more. It allowed our special day to be more intimate, both with each other and the people we love.
